Despite working in the industry for almost ten years, 2025 is the breakout year for Odessa A’zion. She has participated in TV shows like Nashville, Love, Wayne, Grand Army, Ghosts, and The Tiny Chef Show. Yet, she broke through as Tallulah in Rachel Sennott’s I Love LA. As the best friend of the lead character, A’zion gives life to a completely unhinged and reckless influencer trying to make it in Hollywood. At the same time, A’zion stars as Rachel in Marty Supreme. Similarly, her character is an unhinged and complex individual, yet she is the perfect counterbalance to the over-the-top and overconfident Marty Mauser (Timotheé Chalamet).
Rachel works in a pet shop, is pregnant, and still does anything necessary for the love of her life: Marty, the dreamer ping pong player. A’zion charms the audience with the duality of her character: at times, a woman of her time, the 1950s, but mostly, a badass and as overconfident as her partner. Therefore, her performance might be a novelty for most, but if you watched her as Tallulah, it is not a surprise. The young actor is gaining her spotlight as a complex and confident woman, striving to reach her goals despite the challenges of her time: the 1950s or 2020s.
Movies We Texted About had the opportunity to interview Odessa A’Zion in an exclusive conversation on Zoom.
The Interview with ODessa A’zion of Marty Supreme

Pedro Lima: Hi, I’m Pedro. I’m Pedro Lima from Brazil. I’m a writer for Movies We Texted About. And I would like to ask you first, this year has been pretty exciting for you as a performer. Both the reactions of I Love LA and also the Marty Supreme reactions. The embargo just lifted (December 1st.) and are utterly positive, especially highlighting your work on both of those projects. How does it feel for you as a performer to have these receptions that people like your characters and your work?
Odessa A’zion: Oh my God. I mean, how crazy is it that they came out at, I mean, not at the same time, but at almost the same time. So crazy. I was not expecting that. I don’t know. It’s so bizarre to me, and it’s a little bit uncomfortable and unexpected, and it definitely feels like a lot of pressure. But honestly, I’ve been working for almost 10 years now. I’ve done things before where people will talk to me about it and stuff like that, but never to this degree, so it’s something that I need to get used to. It’s just, yeah, it’s new. It’s new for me. It’s new.
Pedro Lima: And your character, Rachel in Marty Supreme is pretty complex. She’s a veterinarian. She works in a pet shop. She’s dealing with all those animals, but at the same time…
Odessa A’zion: I don’t know if she’s a vet, that would be, maybe she’s, you know what, maybe she is. Back then, you worked in a pet shop, you got to take care of them, right?
Pedro Lima: Yeah, I thought she was a vet. I don’t know if she’s a vet or a technician. So yeah, let’s stick with the veterinarian for now. But at the same time, she is as unhinged as Marty. She literally is. I try to describe it like she matches his freak.
Odessa A’zion: Yeah, 100%.
Pedro Lima: Yeah. And how did you find the balance between these central traits? She’s a hardworking woman in front of the pet shop and all of those responsibilities, but at the same time, she is so crazy, so unhinged, and she’s doing whatever she was doing for Marty. How did you find the balance?
Odessa A’zion: The balance of, I mean, I just think that, I kind of think that, oh my God, I don’t know how to describe it. I think that everyone is like that in a way. Everyone has that two sides of them.
Pedro Lima: The Yin and Yang.
Odessa A’zion: Yeah, you could be the nicest person in the world to your friends and your spouse and whatever. And then it comes to talking to your sisters and you’re just screaming each other’s heads off every time you’re with each other. It’s like a different person. So I think it’s kind of there for all of us, but I really liked it. I just felt like she was really smart and kind of scheming, and she was playing her own game after her own goal, trying to get her man and doing his thing.
Odessa A’zion: And it worked for both of them. And I think that she was very brave to go after that and do what she did, especially back then, in that time. I know that the story is made up, but still, I just think she’s badass and yeah, I feel like everyone has that kind of balance. They need to save themselves kind of, honestly.
